An Ed's Grill project tracking the best burgers in New York City.

How the ranking works

Every burger here appeared on at least one credible published list. We tally how many lists a burger shows up on, weigh the average position and rating from those sources, and combine them into a composite score. That score drives the overall rank you see on each card.

Burgers are split into two segments so a $32 dry-aged brasserie patty isn't judged against a $9 smash counter: Premium and Casual. Each keeps its own rank alongside the overall one.

The list is read straight from our working spreadsheet, so edits show up here within a minute. New columns (patty style, protein, service style, veg options, reservation links) light up filters automatically as they get filled in.
